What sort of people will we be? What will we choose to believe? Will we be open and unafraid; Or angry, frightened, Stuck in our own ways? Will we choose generosity And noble pursuits; Will we be tight-fisted, Uncaring brutes? Will our power and wealth Be invested for good Or squandered and hoarded Until allContinue reading “The Heart of the Matter”

A Little Family
A family has moved into the house in my back yard: Mr. and Mrs. are setting up housekeeping. Sometimes, I’m sure they’re arguing! Before long, there will be kids: Little wren chicks. They’ll stay until they can fly; then the whole family will move away.
The Adolescence of Puppyhood
Just as humans go through stages in the process of growing up, so do puppies. Here are some attitudes you might recognize: “Yeah, I heard you call me, but I’m busy tearing this up!” “I know what ‘sit’ means, but do I have to, just because you said so????” “Heckling the cat is soooo muchContinue reading “The Adolescence of Puppyhood”
Simplicity
There is a kind of simplicity that is undesirable: It’s the simple minded demand that all situations, no matter how complex they ar, be addressed with simple explanations and solutions. “Don’t bother me with the facts,” such a person says. “I don’t care about the details; they only confuse me.” The lack of insight andContinue reading “Simplicity”

Always Something New
As long as there is life, There will always be something new: Blossoms in Spring; Fruit in July; Thoughts and ideas; A newborn baby’s cry. As long as we search, We’ll always find something true: Words from a friend; Hope when we pray; Peace at evening’s end; The dawn of a new day.
Spring Fever
It got up to 52 degrees F today. I seriously considered going out to do some yard work. If this were mid October or so and it reached the same mark on the thermometer, I would say it’s too cold to work outside. The difference? Spring fever. True, 52 is warm, compared to say 21. Continue reading “Spring Fever”
The Demagog
Passions ignited and burst into flame; As the man spoke, The crowd became Wilder, more frenzied; Joining in the game With fervor for him and his cause. Mindless insanity grew in the heat; As the man spoke, They would repeat Parts of his phrases, Chanted to a beat With fervor for him and hisContinue reading “The Demagog”
A Painful Dilemma
Regardless of whether you are pro choice or pro life, I have a question for you: What would happen if Roe vs Wade were repealed? As one who belongs to Jesus, I have wrestled with this a lot. I know that the hope is, abortion would end. That is not borne out in history,Continue reading “A Painful Dilemma”
ETERNAL JOURNEY
Falling into silence; Deep within my own soul, Where whispers can be heard; Where silhouettes and shadows Paint pictures dark and vague; Where one speaks without a word. Finding the secret place; Mysteries yet to unfold, Where riddles dance and play; Where questions and quandary live In their exploration That challenges each old way.Continue reading “ETERNAL JOURNEY”
