I will reach higher;
If I happen to fall,
I will get up,
Dust myself off
And try again.

I will look farther;
If I don’t see at all,
I will grow still,
Quietly wait,
Carefully attend.

I will hope stronger;
Obey the deeper call
Of my own heart;
The soft voice of
My inward friend.

Promise is a wonderful treasure,
Precious and delicately formed.
She’s to be valued beyond measure;
Protected from theft and harm.

Plenty would seek to steal your blessing,
As innocent as they might seem.
So brazenly without redressing;
Unashamed of killing a dream.

Don’t let them come near your heart and soul
With their propoganda and lies.
It’s promise that helps to keep us whole;
To guard her is prudent and wise.

If you clothe Promise and Dreams in light
Of truth, reality and grace;
If you hold to what you know is right,
These treasures will come take their place.

Hold Promise tightly, embrace her;
Then listen to Dream’s hopeful word.
Pursue your heart’s longing without fear;
Rejoice when they begin to stir.

Cobwebs in corners;
Stalks from last year’s plants;
Boxes and Christmas wrap;
Ski gear, parkas and snow pants;
Where did all this come from?
How could this mess be!
It wasn’t here yesterday,
Was it?
Things pile up
So insidiously.

Somewhere in corners,
Out of conscious sight;
Hazy memories linger;
Collected through years of life.
Where did all this come from?
How did I not see!
It seems like just yesterday,
Was it?
Time piles up
So insidiously.

Desires in corners;
Dreams of things to come;
Marriage, work and children;
A happy future at home.
Where did all this go to?
Why could this not be?
Such hope was here yesterday,
Was it?
Life happens

Wisdom on corners
Where paths split in two;
Leading in directions
We never thought to be true.
Where did all this come from?
How could such things be?
They weren’t here yesterday,
Were they?
We grow up
So mysteriously.

Stale thoughts and old dreams are melting; snow that slowly shrinks in the presence of sunlight.
New promise springs forth, blossoming into hope and fresh dreams, never thought of before now.
Memories of loss and mistakes made become soil for new learning and ideas.
The anticipation of the coming season, when flowers bloom and fruit ripens, is sweet.

A spring garden is full of surprises:  It seems like nothing is alive there; then blossoms open overnight.  The frozen, sleeping ground softens and wakes up; mud gives way to young, green shoots.

Birds return with happy songs, building their nests and laying eggs.  Soon they’ll be looking for yummy treats to feed their babies; then, they’ll teach them to fly.

Spring’s fragrance is unique and pungent:  A mixture of warming earth, rain-washed air, new grass and blossoms.  So different from the cold smell of winter.

Oh, the thrill of new life, it’s promise, unrealized dreams and possibilities!  May all that is birthed in this young season grow to maturity and fruition.

Protect your dreams;
Let hope be their food.
Keep them from people
Who can’t see their good.

Hold your dreams close;
So that they grow strong.
Give them expression,
Until they’re your song.

Train up your dreams;
Make them more clear.
Then they’ll become goals;
More easy to hear.

Walk out your dreams
By moments and days.
They’re really for now;
For this time and place.

Treasure your dreams,
Like rubies and gold.
They’re food for your soul,
With riches untold.

When they’re fulfilled
And you can recall
Your labor for them,
You’ll surely stand tall.

very good…and true

A couple of days ago,  NgobesingRomanus posted this on

and asked what people thought.
It’s really quite intriguing and thought provoking:

“If you are going to be successful in creating the life of your dreams, you have to believe that you are capable of making it happen.
You have to believe you have the stuff, that you are able to pull it off.
You have to believe in your self,  whether you call it self-esteem, self-confidence, or self-assurance,
it is a deep-seated belief that you have what it takes the abilities, inner resources, talents, and skills to create your desired results.”
– Jack Canfield.

Thank you for this gem, Ngobesing Romanus;  I went and considered it for a while; now I have some quotes in return:

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”
Theodore Roosevelt

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
Eleanor Roosevelt

“I believe that God has put gifts and talents and ability on the inside of every one of us. When you develop that and you believe in yourself and you believe that you’re a person of influence and a person of purpose, I believe you can rise up out of any situation.”
Joel Osteen

“We are what we believe we are.”
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”
CS Lewis

…and just for fun…
“Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.”
Also by CS Lewis

One thing that catches my attention is the tremendous struggle we have when it comes to believing in God and ourselves.  We can all think of scams and advertisements that are “too good to be true.”
When it comes to God’s goodness, all that HE puts into us and the wonderful possibilities we each have, however, it is very good…  AND true!
